Well, March Madness is upon us again! For those of you that are College Basketball fans that means one thing, but it also just the indication of the business of Spring. Spring Break is coming, then Easter, then Graduations etc. It seems like March is really when the ball gets to rolling down hill fast-as far as time goes.
We want to welcome Jonathan Jones to our staff and church family. Jonathan will serve as our Worship Leader. Jonathan is presently working on his master's degree here at Texas State. Jonathan is a very talented young man. In listening to him and seeing his heart, it is apparent he has a love for the Lord Jesus Christ.
We will be having a special Family Fellowship time on March 26th and we are calling it, "Meet'n up with the Jones", more details will be coming about this evening. This time will allow you to meet Jonathan on a more personal level.
One of the greatest challenges for Calvary is our future. The challenge is this: "are we relevant in reaching and meeting people’s needs?" and "what do we do in all the ministries of the church,” and “are we accomplishing our Purpose and Mission Statement?" This past weekend at our Deacon's Retreat, we discussed these elements of our church
Our mission and purpose is established as: worshiping the One true God, reaching others for Christ, growing disciples in Christ, and fellowship of the Believers. It is easy to fill up a calendar, it is another thing to evaluate ministry in light of our purpose. Why, you may ask, because we have always done some things that may not fit. To grow with purpose we have to become more strategic minded about why we exist. So pray as we venture into the future, for courage to evaluate, courage to make change, willingness to accept change for the Glory of God's Kingdom, not mine, nor yours.
Keep living for Jesus!
Bro. Dennis

I am very excited to now be a part of this wonderful fellowship of believers. Worship is dear to my heart not only because I enjoy it but also because we are commanded by the living God to worship. Every single person on this planet worships something. It may not be God, but everyone worships something. The person or thing that we worship is what we hold most dear to us. The context of the New Testament word, worship, is found in a living sacrifice. As a matter of fact, when worship is mentioned in the New Testament, it is rarely speaking of musical worship but rather lifestyle. We are commanded to present our bodies as a living sacrifice as our spiritual act of worship in Romans 12. It is easy to worship God on the mountains, when things are good, but how often do we praise Him just for being God while we’re in the valleys. “Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is the sustainer of my soul (Psalm 54:4).” We are promised in scripture that as children of God, we will face trials. “Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials (James 1:2).” The word when in this particular passage implies that trials are a sure thing in the life of a believer. The true test in trials comes in how we face them. James tells us to face them with joy. Job had the perspective that should be taken from believer during trials. “Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I shall return there. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the name of the LORD (Job 1:21).” We are told to persevere with joy during trials. “Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial (James 1:12).” God is our sustainer, and it is especially obvious Biblically and in personal experiences that this is true. Our sustaining power is not found in people, knowledge, money, power, or any other worldly thing. We must rely on our sustainer, Jesus Christ. This is the true acid test of a heart of worship. As called children of God, let us present our lives as living sacrifices of worship.

![]() Building report - We have come along way, but we still have a way to go. We are about to have the building dried in, with temporary electricity. This is a major accomplishment! God has blessed us greatly. We need to be thankful for people like Troy Miedema for his leadership in getting us this far, and for Jerry Peters and his crew of men for their work in the electrical department. These men have saved the church a great deal. The next step is to start framing in the interior of the building. We will be giving you some details on how we all can get involved. At this present time the Building Account is down to $9,340.00 |
