Prayer is the Key!

Over the past two months, I believe we have seen the results of prayer! Several have made it a point to pray. Prayer has been going on during services, before services, and immediate prayer has been offered when prayer has been asked for. The results, people have found the Lord and been baptized, lives have been rekindled, and marriages and homes strengthened and a healing process begun. So prayer is the KEY, church, keep praying!

It's TIME!

I remember when I was a little kid my dad would come into my room on some mornings when I should have already been up, and the familiar words were heard, "Buzzzzzzzzz goes the bumble bee - where he lands no body knows!" Then would come the sound - "B-zzzz-zzzz-zz-zzzz!" Then up I would come out of the bed to get away from the tickling of my dad! Well, I want you to realize something today - It's TIME! IT's time for the church to wake up and smell the coffee! We live in a cultural war over the family! I believe a loud few are striving to dictate to the majority that we have to accept their views on marriage and morality! We have set dormant and silent far too long. It is time, because if we don't, America and the Church, as we know it, will be under an attack from the homosexual agenda like we have never known before.

God is the One that ordained and formed the first marriage, it wasn't Adam and Steve - but Adam and Eve. The world's agenda promotes that people are created homosexual or heterosexual, but regardless of what the world may say, we are all created male or female and the union is to be made between a man and woman in the bounds of marriage. Anything outside of God's view is wrong, regardless what it is, whether homosexual, bisexual, premarital, or adultery. The world view of Post Modernism has tainted the minds of many in our world, with the idea that there is no real concrete truth. Truth to the present world is what is relevant to them personally. It has even grown past the abominable situational ethics, it is now personal ethics! This is totally anti-Christian thought, because Christ said, "I am the way, THE TRUTH, and the life, no man comes to the Father but by Me!" John 14:6. We are a media fed world and we are slowly being rocked to sleep while, "the lion seeks whom he may devour."

Church, "It's time!" No the bumble bee is not swarming, but the lullaby from hell is lulling us to sleep while our society slips further and further away from the truth! Call your senators and congressman in Washington and tell them - how you support the Federal Marriage Act! If we keep silent - we will lose in the end!

Student Stuff

Over the last couple of months the reality that Christianity is about life change has been rolling over and over in my mind. Paul articulated this idea in 2 Corinthians 5:17 when he wrote, Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. The question I ask our students and myself is are our lives different? Do we reflect Christ in our words, actions, and presence? My hope is that with the summer break our youth will be able to enjoy time spent together and with the Lord. As a result, I hope we are different. May Romans 12:2 be a daily theme for us; And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

This month's First Friday Hang will be Friday, May 7 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The boys will go to the Naquin house and the girls will go to Jodie Glover's house. Youth will need to bring $3 for pizza etc.

On Sunday, May 18th we would like to recognize our graduates in the 11 a.m. service. If you would like your son or daughter to participate in the service please chat with me before May 7.

With the summer upon us, we will have many opportunities for youth to plug in at Calvary. Two major trips for us this summer will be Student Life Camp and the Mexico Mission Trip II. We began collecting deposits for youth camp back in February, but there is still an opportunity to be a part of this trip if you have not signed up. The cost for camp is now up to $215. If the cost is a problem, there are scholarships available. We will leave on Friday, June 11 and return on Thursday, June 17. Let me know if you are interested in going or if you would like to help provide money for a student to go. On July 15 - 22 we will go to Monterrey, Mexico for our summer mission trip. Many have expressed interest in this trip and it is now time to determine who will be going. The total cost for each participant will be $55. A $10 (nonrefundable) deposit needs to be turned in by Wednesday, June 2 if you would like to go.

If you would like more information on any of these events, please give me a call at the church office or e-mail ken@calvarysanmarcos.com.

Ken Naquin
Minister of Students

Dear Calvary Family,

Thank you for such a warm welcome. We wanted to let you know we're looking forward to beginning this new work with you. In many ways, we feel as if we are already part of the family at Calvary. We have worshiped together, fellowshipped together and laughed together. Calvary Baptist Church has stood with our family in the face of great tragedy and sorrow. Thank you for loving us already! We can't wait to build more relationships as we begin to serve weekly.

Please be in prayer for the music ministry. There is much work to be done. There are choir rehearsal times to schedule and time is precious as we are only here on the weekends. Also, as we get to know one another, we will be offering surveys to find out more about our new church family. There will be a survey offered on Mother's Day, May 9th. Pray that we may be sensitive to the Spirit, diligent in Word study and disciplined in planning and practicing. May we worship Him in spirit and in truth. It is our desire to be obedient to God's leading for Calvary's future. Jesus said, "If I be lifted up, I'll draw all men to me." Amen! May we never forget to lift up His name so that others may come to know Him!

Serving Him,
Fred and Rosanna Haddock
