Well, July is already here - hot weather is probably on its way! But, it is good to be back in the USA. I really enjoyed my trip to Uganda, Africa. We saw some fruitful ministry taking place, but there is no place like home, the air seems cleaner, hamburgers taste better, cars drive on the right side of the road and believe it or not, the traffic is seemingly slower. (Or it may have been slower there but on much more narrow roads and many more pot holes.) The one thing that I came back with - is the fact that God is faithful. In His time, God will bring to past all that is His Will.
Back in 1995 when I was there at Peter's church in Gaba, they had a tent, and had cut in the side of the hill some stair step pews right in the side of the hill. Today there is standing a 1000 seat auditorium, now many spoiled Americans wouldn't go to church there, but it is packed for two services every Sunday morning. God has really blessed the faithfulness of this man and his church. They have a vision to reach people especially the orphans and other under privileged children. Peter will be with us sometime in August for a Sunday and Gerald will be with us some Sunday in September. Both of these men are truly Godly men from Uganda.
One of the requests from Peter while I was there, was for us as a church to pray about sponsoring a mission pastor who has started a work in Bethany. Peter told me that his monthly salary would be about $100.00 a month. There are many other ways we could help this church also, right now they are meeting under some trees, they are running about 65 adults and about 100 children. Anyway I will share more about Africa on one of our Sunday Evening services, as I look at the calendar it will probably be in August.
I want to also encourage you to WRITE, CALL, EMAIL - your Congressman and Senators. July 15th - there will be a vote on the Federal Marriage Act. Our elected officials have stated they have not really heard from their constituents in great numbers on this matter. If we let this effort slide by the wayside, America is headed for some dark days morally, with same sex marriages, polygamy and any other assortment of scenarios. I encourage you let them know your feelings on what constitutes a marriage.
Also coming up July 11-13 we will be hosting the Baptist Hispanic Revival for Bluebonnet Baptist Association. It starts Sunday Evening at 6:00 PM - English service will be in the fellowship hall, Spanish service will be in the Auditorium. Monday and Tuesday Nights the services will begin at 7:00 PM.
Well, hope you have a great 4th of July - hope to see you Sunday morning IN Sunday School and Church. Sunday evening we are having an all church picnic at my house at 8:00 PM. 1620 Gordon Rd. San Marcos. If it rains - we will have it at the church fellowship hall.
God's Blessings on you!
Bro. Dennis

So far the summer break has been pretty exciting. In a word, camp was an adventure. Our camp pastor challenged us to love God and love people. What a timely message we all need to hear. Thank you to those of you who gave money and prayed for us while we were in Georgia. Also, thank you to Mrs. Wilma Cortez, Angela Lewis, and Jocelyn Naquin for going with us! We could not have done it without your presence and the generosity of Calvary.
We have several opportunities for fellowship, fun, and growth in July! Saturday, July 3 we will be having a youth scavenger hunt. Meet in the CBC activities building at 5 p.m. and we will be done at 9 p.m. We will have supper and the only thing you need to bring is a friend because everything else is free! On Monday, July 5 we will be having our second Mexico Mission Trip training. We will begin at 4:30 p.m. and conclude by 7 p.m. Our third and last meeting for Mexico trip participants will be Sunday, July 11 at 4:30 p.m. All documents and final payments for the Mexico trip will need to be turned in on July 11. The actual trip will be July 17 – 23. Please keep us in your prayers as we travel to Monterrey for ministry. On Tuesday, July 6 we will be heading down to Mustang Island for a Beach Getaway! It will cost $30 per person. You will need to turn in $20 to the church and bring $10 cash for lunches. On July 11 we will have a SNAC fellowship! Be here on Sunday morning for more details. We’ll finish the month off with a trip to Blazer Tag and CiCi’s on July 30. As always, if you would like more information on any of these events etc. please give me a call! What are we here for? A lot of people ask that question. Do you find yourself asking that from time to time? Well, just recently, we learned we were created for worship. Sound familiar? (something about 40 days…)
That’s what we’ll do when we all get to heaven – worship! Worship can be life-changing and powerful. It can unite us as a people of faith. True worship should direct the lost to the feet of the Father. Worship can also NOT be any of those things. The Bible teaches that it’s a choice we can make when our hearts are in tune with God. The Psalmist writes, “He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see it and fear and put their trust in the Lord.” (Psalm 40:3) Did you catch that? HE does it. It’s a work HE begins and finishes. Our ultimate goal is to glorify God in ALL we do; not just in our songs and prayers and gifts, but in our lives. We are being watched by a lost world. Let them see an excitement in the people of God when we worship. May the Lord use us to draw men to Himself. There will be no choir rehearsal July 4th. Rehearsals will resume on July 11th at 4:45p.m. Come and sing with us. There is a place for YOU in the choir. Serving Him, Fred and Rosanna Haddock |
