One way to share Christ with your neighbor before the end of the year! I just got home from the Southern Baptist of Texas Convention. It was good to rest my head in my own bed once again. No place like home. Before that, I was in Kansas sharing in a revival at Chautauqua Baptist Church with our Bro. Kevin. He says to tell you all Howdy! While at the convention one of the speakers made the statement that we need to challenge our people: "To go where no other man has gone! To our neighbors!" How true that is today - many don't even know who lives next door! One lady made a statement that when a hurricane came through her region and the electricity was knocked out for several days that people came out of their homes and fellowship began. People would come to neighbors homes out of concern and also out of boredom. Seemingly friendships began to form, but then the lights came back on, and everybody went back into their houses and “closed doors” were there again. We are going to have to break down the barriers that are all around us if we are going to reach people. I want to challenge you in this area. I was reading an article out of the Home Life magazine about ministering to our neighbors through a Christmas Open House. Two of the biggest holidays that people actually come to church are Christmas and Easter. I want you to pray about opening up your home for a Christmas Open House. It can be an outreach for the Lord Jesus Christ. Let me know if you are interested. Because of Christ Bro. Dennis

YOUTH MINISTRY NEWS Let me start off by thanking everyone who was involved in our student underground event. We could not have done it without you! This month we will be doing several family events. On November 10 – 13 we will be taking pictures for a new church directory. I hope your family is signed up for an appointment! We will also have a church wide Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday, November 21 after the 11 a.m. worship service. Doing things together as a family is fortifying as we live in a culture that often takes families away from each other. On Saturday November 20 we will be heading to the San Antonio Zoo for a youth trip and then over to a burger joint. We will meet in front of the CBC Activities building at 10 a.m. and be back at 7 p.m. You will need to bring a bag lunch and $17 for admission to the zoo and dinner at Chris Madrid’s Nachos and Burgers. There will be no Pathway on Wednesday, November 24. Coming up in December we will have a jr. high Christmas party at Ms. Matlock’s house on Friday, December 10 from 6 to 9 p.m. Then on Saturday, December 11 we will have a high school Christmas party from 6 to 9 p.m. (Location TBA)COLLEGE MINISTRY This month’s dinner and a movie event will be Friday, November 19 at the Major’s house at 6:30 pm. If you need directions please give Ken a call at the church. Thanks to Bill Major for having the CATS for Christ hats made!Ken Naquin Minister of Students ken@calvarysanmarcos.com |

Calling all Instrumentalists! Then David spoke to the leaders of the Levites to appoint their brethren to be the singers accompanied by instruments of music, stringed instruments, harps, and cymbals, by raising the voice with resounding joy. 1 Chronicles 15:16 If you play a musical instrument, or used to – start dusting that instrument. We will be starting an instrumental ensemble soon. Until then why not work on your chops and use your gifts to honor and glorify God with your talents? I’ll have a sign-up list posted somewhere for those interested in being on the instrumental solo ministry team. More info to come. As always, we invite you to come be a part of the choir. There is a place for you! Serving Him,Fred |

Come enjoy a FREE Lunch on Tuesdays.
We have started a new men’s lunch/bible study that will meet each Tuesday in the fellowship hall at 12:00. We are going through a book by Bob Reccord titled Beneath the Surface. Lunch is free and we will get you out by 12:50 to return to work. Of course, all you retired guys are invited too! There has been a lot going on in the last couple of months with Calvary’s Men. A group of 22 men attended the Promise Keepers event in San Antonio and it was a real blessing. About 17,000 men singing “How Great Thou Art” is an awesome thing. All the speakers were outstanding and encouraging. On Friday, October 1st about 15 men saddled up to go to Highland Lakes encampment for our Fall Retreat. Bro. John Villarreal lead a bible study and food, fun and fellowship were on the menu. We are looking for ideas for projects, so please give us your opinion. If you haven’t had the chance to get involved, do not be afraid, you will be blessed. God calls us to come together in His name, so let’s be found faithful to that calling. John Clarke |
